Pennhurst State School
Pennhurst State School and Hospital was an institution for mentally and physically disabled individuals. After 79 years of controversy, it closed in 1987. Time has taken its toll on many of the institutions impressive buildings leaving what many would consider beautiful subjects for photography. In addition to a "Photography Tour," other tour options include: A "Daytime History Tour" where you can visit the exteriors of sixteen campus buildings as you learn about Pennhurst's past, and an "Overnight Paranormal Investigations" ghost tour that allows access to all four floors of the notoriously haunted Mayflower Hall. Included in the ghost tour, you can explore the underground tunnels of Philadelphia, Devon, and Rockwell.
